We’re getting close to restarting. I've just started getting into black powder shooting, but a friend of mine has some powder.
We have thought about percussion caps. We started looking at it, but the focus has been on getting powder back into production. Once we get the powder going, we'll see about the caps.

If you start making musket and revolver caps I'll drive down to Louisiana and give you a kiss! :)
If you start making caps ill drive down to LA and stop him!

I was reading yesterday they've had a set back reopening the plant, a small BOON and a broken WATER MAIN. That the bulk of what is being made is going to fill orders for the Government.

Red can Goex will come first since it's faster to make and in high demand, but we'll get Olde Eynsford running again too later this year.
I’m looking forward to Goex being available, and encourage the production of caps.
This is particularly interesting to me, as Estes will be providing products for two of my widely differing hobbies- ye old timey guns and rockets!

Thanks for posting the article. I was surprised to hear how much the military uses black powder. I'd guess that Goex could still make a profit if it dropped private sales of black powder. I find it encouraging that the CEO is a muzzleloader shooter and is taking the time to come on here and give us updates.

Goex is all I've ever used... I'm really glad to see it coming back on line. I'm down to 5 lbs of FFFg. It's actually leftover from when I was active in the BP world in the 80s, and I've just recently gotten back into it. The powder made the trip to TN in '92 from where I was living in CA at the end of my USAF stint and where I stayed for a little while after the AF.

I was only able to shoot last month 'cuz I found one tin of #11 caps for my TC Hawken .50 hidden in my BP plunder, but those will barely get me through another shoot. Nobody has any. I'm going to try using the CCI Reenactor (low power) musket caps to see if those will work as a (hopefully temporary) replacement, but I also think it might be a good idea to just go flint moving forward, so I got a Kibler SMR .40 kit to put together that I'll be starting on soon.

I sure hope you can make all that happen... You'd be a hero to a lot of folks!

At my age, I have come to believe only that which I see with my own eyes. There is so much BS in the sound waves.

Being reported that McDonalds is suffering a burger flipper shortage as GOEX hires them at their current salary to make explosive black powder.
I'd rather not buy powder made by those brain surgeons formerly from Mickeys Dee's. 99% cant figure out the stacking procedure of a Big Mac (bun meat bun meat bun). How can they be expected to make gunpowder.
