In looking at some of the Rocket forums it appears as though GOEX has long supplied Estes with a rocket propellant substance known as Meal Powder for their engines
Meal powder in its simplest definition is black powder as it first comes out of milling process.

No mention of it on the Estes Web page, but then they aren't exactly gabby about news.

"Estes Industries was founded in 1958 by Vern and Gleda Estes and found a home soon after in Penrose, Colorado (the model rocket capital of the world). Through more than six decades of hard work and innovation, Estes has grown to be the leading manufacturer of model rocket engines, kits and accessories. As of April 2018, Estes Industries is once again a family-run business, committed to enabling safe, successful flights for customers everywhere, from their backyards and school yards to worlds beyond. Our team is proud to be part of the Estes legacy, as rocketry has always been part of our history as engineers, rocketeers, and designers. Estes continues to the ignite imagination of each new generation."
As a kid I built and launched many Estes rockets, and am still involved in the hobby. Here’s a photo of the Estes building I took while on a trip in July 2020.

Great news! Glad an American Company is hopefully holding onto it. Does anyone else think we can expect an official announcement soon?

I emailed an inquiry to Estes and this is the response I got.

"
Thank you for reaching out to Estes customer service. I have not heard this rumor however this information would be released in an announcement on our Social Media pages before I would be made aware of it as well. I can not confirm this information. Please follow up with Social Media such as our Facebook page or others for updates as this is where it would be announced if valid for either of us to know. Sorry I do not have that information. "

Well, I always wanted to try model rocketry. A scale size Saturn 5 would be awesome to fire. Uh, shoot? Launch! Yah, that's it! Any way, fingers crossed!

So will they provide a special grade of powder to help launch our ramrods? New owner should develop a new powder for us i would think. Just asking for a friend that has done it.

Well, I do know that when I heard about Goex shutting the doors last year some time I was in a bit of disbelief so I went to the Goex web site and there was a "we're sorry statement" on their web site about the closure of the company. Yesterday I looked again and all those statements about closing were removed.

Well this gives me the idea of a new electronic ignition lock. Just make the vent hole big enough to stick the Estes wire ingniter all the way in to reach the powder, and then duct tape the ingition controller to the stock in place of the trigger and trigger guard. No lock tuning required.

That would be a severely delayed shot and promote follow through for sure. And one ugly blasphemous rifle

CVA Electra origin?

i think that Goex would not be cheap to market until it hits
profitability. Also, the sporting powder industry is not like the
rocket powder industry. However, the R & D might be better,
since a propulsion engineer would be a master of burn rate etc.
Interesting rumors.

Henry Miles, Electric ignition which we don't talk about here. CVA developed it years ago. Google cva Electra and you get a picture of camo stock, rubber butt plate, and scope. Very traditional, I suppose our sister site could help out with better information.
