https://powderinc.com is the source I use because New York has insane blackpowder storage restrictions for retailers.

Must be in separate building from the retail sales. Who has a separate building for storage on site?

Powder Inc. is the best for me. Order a case and divide it up among fellow shooters. The last case we did this way the cost was $17.85 per pound with shipping and hazmat fees included. Check out their web site for cost and shipping information.

For those who've never heard of us, we're a competition shooting org that uses only Civil War era weapons (including cannon) and we only use black powder, none of that ersatz stuff for us!

I purchase my Black Powder from Maine Powder House. If you buy a case, the shipping (including hazmat) is free. Comes to about $18/pound, and that is cheaper than I could buy Pyrodex locally, (if I ever wanted Pyrodex).

I've been sticking with Grafs. Sign up for the newsletter. A few times a year they sell the powder marked down $2 or $2.50 per lb. Last time I got it at the sale price, $10 hazmat AND free shipping to boot.
It was worth the wait.

I like Graf and Sons also however they have a 4 lb. min. purchase now. You can mix different powders including smokeless.

+1 on Maine Powder house. Great folks to do business with. However, I usually go to them and save the shipping. Not far from Portland, Maine. I visit there a few times a year.

Funny. I live up here and have it shipped from Grafs. Never been to the powder house.
I guess its because once I factor in a tank of gas from here to there and back....in my truck...... $45- $50.
I guess if you are coming to Maine and driving by it makes sense. If you live out here and have to make the pilgrimage......... not so much.
I'm sure they are a great outfit. I'm on file with them for clearance to ship to me. But driving wont work. Let the FedEx guy do it for me. Ten bucks to ship it and no gas pumps. Wooohooo.

I second Back Creek Gun Shop if you happen to be in the Winchester, VA area. You can also watch a NSSF skirmish if you time your visit right.

I had check with Grafs first on Swiss 3F and they didn't know when to expect more inventory. Another place said they didn't expect to get any more this year. Hope that's not a sign of trouble ahead.

I also live in the restricted (to put it mildly) state of NY and no shops carry it here...headed to western PA and found a shop in Winchester PA that I will be driving right pat tomorrow... I called he dose carry Goex (not sure of any others). But I am thrilled because I can walk into a shop and see what I am buying!!!!

Also would like some suggestions from all you experts. Have not shot in a few years and recently purchased a Jim Kibler flint from this site. Excited to be getting back to my TC hawken and new (to me) fainter. Anyway I have almost a full can of Goex 3F that is about 10 years old. Has been stored in metal ammo box. Do you all think it i good to go or should I try to dry it out first? I have read a couple comments about BP absorbing some moisture and suggestions to laying out to dry? What say you?
