Daylight broke and he gobbled at about 100 yards through the timber at an owl hoot. Called him off the roost to twenty yards. Smoothbore did the trick! I used 65 grains of FF and 1-1/8 ounce of 6’s

Congrats. Our opener is appearing to be a washout so far. Hopefully the forecast will change for the better by the weekend. If not I'll be hunting with my unmentionable for the first day at least.

I tried the Skychief method but didn't have a lot of luck with it. I will try it again eventually as a lot of people swear by it. I loaded it with powder, 2os cards, durafelt wad, shot and an os card. Its tough to watch turkeys turn and leave when they are stretched out staring, looking for the hen at 35 yards and you know you can't shoot unless he comes at least 10 yards closer, and to be honest 25 yards is the absolute max that I need to be shooting at one. 20 is better. I am still looking for that 30 yard pattern from this gun but might have to settle or find another gun. Sure is a blast when it works out though! Thanks to all for the compliments!

Congratulations! Our season comes in this Saturday. I hope to have the same luck as you. I load my .62 very much like you. Only differance is I use 70 grains of ffg powder. That has worked on my last eight gobblers.
