Here's a few pics. I think I got a nice piece of wood, rather unique. It's very light/blonde up top, and darker at the bottom. The pictures don't do it justice. I sure hope my kit building skills will!

Nice!
Fedex still has my GPR it was shipped friday and is setting still.
Should have mine by Wed.
Mine is already built. I still might change a few things.

Have fun with your kit.

How do, Smokestick. I finished my first muzzleloader (a GPR 54 capgun like yours) a couple months ago. I am very pleased with the accuracy of this gun and it has convinced me to get a flinter kit of the Pennsylvania/Kentucky persuasion. I just wish my wood had as much figure as yours on the left side. As you can see, the right side is quite nice at least.

I'm also jealous that your stock looks like it is at least close to what it will be when finished...mine was so rough it looked like someone used a dull pocket knife to whittle the blank and mostly cut across the grain. :shake: I had to rasp off 3/4" of wood in several spots.

Well, enjoy putting that puppy together, and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. There is probably two thousand years of accumulated gunbuilding experience and knowledge on this board and the folks here aren't stingy with it!

Hmmmm... That is only counting Zonie, Musketman and Stumpkiller, isn't it? :rotf:

Don't rank me with Zonie. I've refinished a dozen gunstocks maybe, assembled one T/C kit, ("Sporterized" a WWII Mauser, but that don't count here). The rest is "rebuilding" and monkey-mechanicing I've picked up in passing over 30 years of trying to keep them running. I'll take some wood credit (I worked full-time in a cabinet shop and married a cabinet maker's daughter, built a wood boat and restored a 30 year old mostly [rotted] wood one). But the metal parts are beyond me. If I can't get it with a file I farm it out.

Zonie builds 'em . I brake 'em and try to re-build 'em.
