i just got a gpr fint rifle kit from tj general store (great price). the parts all fit real well but i believe i have the wrong tang for this rifle. does anyone know if it's supposed to have a drilled and tapped hole in the center of tang. isn't that for the gpr hunter model.

If the barrel is marked "Great Plains Rifle" and the tang fits the barrel hook nicely, don't worry about it.

If you are worried about having a open threaded hole in the tang you can always plug it with a short piece of threaded stock cut from the end of a Metric screw with the same thread.

thanks for the replies. i just wanted to make sure. other than that everything else seems good. i was surprised how well everything fit, better than i expected. you can't beat the price from tj general and they had it in the mail in three days. anyway thanks

It should have came with the threaded plug for the hole. They all come pre-tapped for the tang sight.

thanks for the replies. i won't be posting progress for a while because i'm taking my time. just started sanding metal parts. i'm gonna try a couple inlays and maybe a simple carving. who knows when i'll get done. if it turns out decent i'll eventually post a picture. it's a first try. thanks for answering my question about that tapped hole.
