Greased Tow?

Those who use tow as wadding in their smoothbores, do you grease or oil the tow or just use it plain? I am thinking some lube would help reduce fouling and could also possibly reduce the risk of smoldering tow on the ground.

I just use tow plain and get good results in smoothbore pistols. Never tried it in a smoothrifle.

I grease mine

I give my tow wads a spritz of moose milk.

Forget the moose and do like tenngun does.

Tow burns real easy and hot. So does grease after it’s melted.
The grease absorbs a lot of heat to burn. And there just isn’t the time in the barrel for it to do so.
I’ve never seen a greased wad smolder
