This is a great forum! I've been lurking for a couple of weeks but finally decided to put my big boy pants on and contribute.
I'm as green as they come when it comes to muzzleloading and black powder. I just recently bought my first rifle (a .50 cal stripped Pedersoli Kentucky Percussion). My father is a long time hunter and gun guy, but I never really took to it. I'd periodically meet him at the range to shoot, but beyond pointing his 9mm down range and squeezing off a few, I didn't get too involved.
Until he talked me into coming out to the OVPR Spring Rendezvous a month or so ago. I was blown away by what I saw and experienced in just may afternoon visit. Pictures of the day can be seen here: OVPR Spring Rendezvous Pictures.
I'm pretty obsessive compulsive, so I try to focus my tendencies into worthwhile endeavors. So, I've begun to slowly wade into the buckskinning pool. The research and whatnot required to be PC grooves with my personality pretty tightly. Plus it's something else I can do to connect with my Dad.
In my other life I'm the operations manager for an industrial supply company. I maintain the computers and do my best to keep things moving generally in a positive direction despite the efforts of my staff. I'm also into photography quite seriously (which is how I stumbled into this stuff to begin with). I'm in my early thirties, single, and pretty well happy with life.
I'm looking forward to soaking up all I can here. This seems like a great place to hang out, and I hope you guys don't mind me sitting around your fire for a spell.
