I hope this isn’t too far off topic, but I’ve worn a 2 claw grizzly necklace for over 25 years and finally have to completely redo. Over the last few years I’ve noticed the claws are getting more dried out and cracks. I was wondering if anyone knows of something I can put on to help stop or restore a bit. I was thinking of hoof cream I use on horses but wanted to get input before messing with them. I have a total of 8 nice size claws and they aint cheap to replace.

I wear a bear claw necklace daily and have for 50 years. Yes, they dry out just as you have pictured. I simply rub a little oil on them. Sometimes I use mineral oil and other times have used neatsfoot. The neatsfoot seems to do a better job of restoring. They should last your lifetime and more.

Hi George,

Since I wear these everyday, I wanted them to lay flat, So I just made a rawhide cap for over the knuckle and used some artificial sinew to wrap. I've changed the style on this set a few times. Wichoun
