Thought i would show some of the gun hanger hook thingies my dad hammered out. They are made from rail road spikes but he has made another pair out of wrought iron. Gonna have him make me a couple sets for my guns.

Freek you've got talent in your family. I blacksmithed for a hobby from age 13 till last year, got some emphysema and COPD , Doc says I must get a propane forge now, no more coal, and still wear a respirator. I can tell a good hand and your dad and you both have it. Tree.

Those really shine, bet it took a lot of heating & hammering to make them out of railroad spikes.

Here is a rack I made out of railroad spikes from the 1800s that I pick up along my property line from a long gone line, the Missouri & Arkansas RR.

That's awesome. I've always wanted to learn some basic blacksmithing.

Dad says thanks!

It did take quite a bit of hemmerin and he says the next set will start out closer to dimension.

Tree I was told by my doctors that i shouldn't hammer anymore or grind or a bunch of other stuff since I had a collapsed lung. But if i cant do what I want whats the point? So I told them I'll do what i want

BPD I really like that one I'll have to talk dad into making me one.

I had a respiratory problem a while back that prevented me from working in my coal forge. I picked up a good respirator and the problem went away.
Thought I would let everyone see the whole rack. The RR spikes are mounted on a 2in thick slab of cedar, which is mounted below a small elk rack. The TC Hawken at the top of the elk rack is one I have had for 40 years. Got enough room for more rifles if I decide to go lower.
