Spanish percussion miquelet fowling piece.looks like a original percussion, not a conversion. Nice find! A few Spanish gun experts I hope will be along shortly!
 
May want to gently clean the lock and barrel, may be some markings on them that would narrow down when and where in Spain, or even Mexico, it was made. Did you check to see if there was a load in it?
 
No Sir I have not but I will. Do you have any idea how old it may be. It was gifted to me by a dear friend who has since passed away.
 
Spain started percussion systems with a cap roughly 1820. Your gun could have been made 1830’s to 1850’s. I think it has what they call a Madrid style stock . They exported these , too. Just a good simple shotgun. I would just clean it up a bit, and hang it on the wall , and think of your good friend when you see it!
