First time stock maker looking for a good vise. Need one that swivels and is easy to carve from. Having a real problem locating what I need. Any help or ideas would be appreciated!

Hey there!

I bought one of those cheap vises that swivel 360 horizontal AND verticle.I got it at one of the traveling circus tent tool sales that come around in the summer. I ordered a set of magnetic rubber vise jaw pads from Harbor Freight. It works well enough for a week end warrior like me. I'm sure that if I did more than I do, I would rather have the real thing. You could make some jaw pads pretty easy if you wanted .
