I purchased a new JM 1895 Classic several years before the Remtastrophe. The worst JM ever was nicer than the nicest Remlin. Embarrassing really. Especially in an age where an at least decent cnc could have made them nicer than that. I picked one up to look at locally after the changeover and the metalwork alone looked like a bad day at a grinder seminar. Or maybe at the lumber mill. Looked circle sawn. Could have used the barrel and receiver as a rasp.The JM I got had mirror polished metal with near perfect bluing. The wood/metal fit is not perfect, but darned good. Cycles perfectly and smoothly and is extremely accurate. I wasn't surprised by Rem's downfall because my dad left me a 700 Classic 22-250 he bought in the 80's and it is flawless-including a nicely jeweled bolt. The fugly 700's that came after were just a harbinger of where Remington was headed. Sad. SW

We have a sight here for in state only sales and trading, were we sell,trade, moved all my bow hunting going on three years ago how, some hand guns, so cleaned out but replaced them with ML. From the fire into the fry pan!

So....while "herd thinning", another thing's fallen out of the cache - unfinished project guns. You know - or maybe you don't - the old gun missing a (pick one) lock, set trigger, rear sight, barrel, hammer, unbroken stock, etc etc.
Box pieces together like a partial IKEA thing? Sell parts individually? Hang on to them still hoping what's needed will show up on eBay? Several "just need that one thing" (that hasn't been found in 40 years).
One also realizes a public offering exposes not only lack of skill, but also judgement to have paid money for such in the first place. What say ye?

It USED to be if your assessment went up the mill levy went down to arrive at the , or near the same Dollar wise tax statement. Now the city, school and fire dept, have no Cap . as do most other beneficiaries of your taxes. I have had 3 raises in less than 10 years ,,,,,,I have made no changes or Improvements to the property. Overpaid young professionals are pushing us out of our Properties that are paid for and Intended to live out our lives in...The County gets Comps In your area, and raises your Taxes. Many people are LEAVING Nebraska for this reason alone.. Young people will pay ANY price to get out of the city, and they want every thing RIGHT now.It is nothing to see a $2500 per mo. house payment. They can handle it easily until one of them is downsized or laid off. I have always lived pretty simply and saved for the future,, I figure a Squirrei puts away for leaner times.....I you are not as Smart as a Squirrel, You deserve what you get.........Be Safe>>>>>>>>>>>Wally

That $65 for a position called ā House Serviceā I took the position as a āget my foot in the doorā as I wanted to get out of the PD in my city. 16 weeks later I won a bid for Cable Splicer and the pay jumped to around $80 a week gross. New England Tel had a 5 year program that lead to a rating of Journeyman and top pay. One was on automatic pay increases, steps, every 6 months to top unrated and then an exam to pass to reach top rated pay. You may recall in that time frame the President of the US froze wage and prices for a year or so. That cost me an extra 6 months on steps.
My dad was in skilled trades, electrician at GM. He retired in 1976 and was to young for SS.
His pension was $560 a month. Five years later he dies and mom got survivors benefits, half.

I had labor intensive jobs as a youth. I poured concrete, did roofing, and several other hard jobs. One day I got to thinking if I could make someone else money why not work for myself? I started a very small business and watched it slowly grow. It was one of the best moves I have ever made. The one thing I made sure of was to treat my employees fair. My job became something that I enjoyed for a change. The goverment must have been happy for me as well as I look at what I paid them.

To me itās just a āthingā, like every other thing I own.

āThingsā are one of the reason I plan to die in this house. 53 years in one location and counting and the bride and I have pretty much used up the available space with āthingsā. I donāt want to deal with the disposal of all the junk. Let the sons deal with it.
Not hoarders mind you, more like pack rats.
