Forgive my years later contribution to this thread, thankfully I found it and appreciate all of your comments herein.

I often quote an old saying my grandparents used all those years ago that "All things come to he who waits".
Well I've waited and hoped for decades that somehow, some time I'd get the opportunity to purchase a cased pair of Uberti Hamilton reproductions in good condition.

A good friend of mine in the USA tipped me off yesterday that he knew a guy who was prepared to sell his cased set of Uberti Hamiltons, and I knew I'd have to move fast before others cottoned on. After some negotiation the seller agreed and I placed a 50% deposit on them, and am elated that what had been a dream has come true.

Here I am in Australia still feeling giddy at my good fortune.
When I take actual posession of them I will post more about them.

I'm not sure what you mean by spiritualists . From what I remember is that when they went to remake these pistols. They found the hidden set trigger. These guns were Hamilton's, he furnished in the duel with Burr. He prematurely miss fired when drawing down on Burr because of this ... cheating, with history writing him as a gallant brave man who fired in the air as a token of great esteem. Burr did not miss. History did not know this till these guns were remade when they found the set trigger.

He means mediums, IOW people who claim to be able to talk to the dead, usually by staging a séance.
