I recently purchased a T/C Renegade percussion,54 cal.I have noticed that the hammer does not hit the nipple,even when there is a cap on it.I have taken off the trigger assembly and it didn't appear to be rusted but I have sprayed it with some Rem oil.Is there an adjustment I can make with the trigger set screw.

Do you mean the hammer is not falling far enough to reach the nipple? This sounds like a lock issue, not a trigger issue.
I would remove the lock and check to make sure it is working properly. If it isn't falling enough to hit the nipple, it could be a problem with the fly not preventing the sear from engaging half-cock as the hammer falls from full cock when the sear is tripped, i.e., its getting stuck at half-cock. You should be able to check this out easily enough if you take the lock off and watch what is going on.
I don't have a TC, so maybe someone with knowledge of TC locks can chime in.

The trigger assembly doesn't have anything to do with the lock or the hammers location.
If the hammer isn't hitting the nipple squarely (or at all) the problem is either with the hammer (someone bent it?) or the locks position in the stock.
Can you give us a description of where the nose of the hammer is in relation to the end of the nipple when the hammer is down?

This condition can exist it the bridle screws are loose. check that the fly is in it's proper location, put a little thread lock on the screws and your problems are over. Hope that this helps
