How strong does the spring for the hammer have to still reliably set off a cap 100% of the time. I have a Traditions with a really spring and I swapped it out with a worn one from my parts box. Hammer is noticeably easier to pull back and trigger pull is lighter. I popped a few caps to test it and they all fired, so I guess only time will tell.

The spring doesn't have to be very heavy. Having a sharp edge on the nipple is more important than spring strength.

Yes, "blowback" depends on spring strength and powder charge/projectile for any individual rifle. My underhammer would blow the hammer back into "halfcock" position with loads much above the recommended. I may have experienced it with another rifle but just can't recall details. Spring vs load should be in balance neither too heavy nor too light. Only way to tell is to shoot it and see.
