Not to that exact style, but I did make a gathered end hammock from canvas. The sisal rope I had for the suspension eventually failed.
I replaced the suspension with nylon for safety.

Sounds like a fun build though......

Not much to one, a sheet of linen or hemp canvas, and linen/hemp ropes. I've thought about making one, myself, but I simply don't have the time.

I have my Fathers WWII Navy hammock and ropes. They look almost exactly like these.
