Yeah, the '80 Western Nat'l was a rendezvous with a lot of Firsts. Actually had a chance to see and meet Charlton Heston and his son, although couldn't stay for the premier of the 'Mountain Men' movie, as I had to be back in Colo Sprgs that evening. Seems it wouldn't have mattered anyways - an evening storm took down the movie screen erected in the meadow! As I recall, there were over 700 tipis set up in the valley and a lodge of working beaver adjacent to one of the shooting ranges that adults and kids enjoyed alot. Great sights, sounds and fooferaw! Shinin' times, indeed!
