I have to release some of my OCD this afternoon. It is a Hawken rifle. It is not a Hawkin, Hawkins, or Hawkens. I’m curious if the word Hawken is used the same as the word deer? There is a deer in my yard. There are ten deer in my yard. Saying “There are ten deers in my yard” is just wrong lol!!! Is it....I have four Hawken rifles or I have four Hawkens rifles? I’ve had way too much coffee!!!

It's called being pedantic...... :)

;)I think it is just Jake and Sam's rifles … or is it Jake's and Sam's rifles or is it J & S …… I need a Tylenol. Sorry Grenadier1758 and TreeMan .. could not resist a bit of fun.

I let it slide, hoping the poster will learn in time.
The one that bugs me to no end is....its Canada geese. NOT Canadian geese. Unless your Canada goose flies over the boarder while you watch it do so, making it a Canadian Canada goose. o_O
I’m totally guilty of calling them Canadian Geese lol. I’m from West Virginia so I say all kinds of wrong words lol. We call squirrels Squacks, ferry diddles, and tree rats.

Have to agree with the O.P. :ThankYou:

Mostly see new members spell Hawken incorrectly; but some long term members make the same mistake.

Am far from educated on English language rules but spell fairly well. This spelling misuse is like fingernails on a chalkboard for me.
You don't spell it Haukan?

I have a friend who goes nuts every time someone used the word 'decimate' to describe near total destruction. It's origin is Roman and has a specific application in Roman military terms, in that application it means to reduce by ten percent. :)
I had my work crew in my truck one day a while back. Somehow we got on the subject of who did or didn’t like drinking milk. One of my guys says he wife only bought the milk that was “homogenercized”. I laughed and laughed and laughed....

If the plural of goose is geese, then why isn't the plural of moose meese? The plural of mouse is mice and the plural of louse is lice, yet the plural of house is not hice, and the plural of blouse is not blice. This whole "English" thing just don't make no kinda sense! 😄

Oh, and as a native Arizonan, don't even get me started on the "cactuses" thing. It's "cacti," dammit! :thumb:

Sam & Jake’s father (Christian) spelled it ‘Hawkin’ in his early years in our country...
