Great pics Ron! Thanks for sharing!

Oh, and thanks Spikebuck but I'm pretty observant and have a decent enough memory though I do discount arguments of limited-experience newbies...

Please don't get another great post closed with petty arguments and a condescending attitude.

I THINK my production CVA Mountain Rifle also has two keys...

...as do BOTH Pedersoli Hawkens.

Let's see: one.... two. Yup, you are absolutely correct. Those facts about the CVA and Pedersoli just show my newbie ignorance. But, I am learning.

I have had traditional blackpowder firearms in my possession since about 2011 or so, but only in the last year did I really start becoming interested.

My misstatement about "all" Hawken style rifles being one key comes from the fact that my exposure was to a limited sampling, all with a single key. I should have delved into it further rather than making such an explicit statement. Mea Culpa. I have an Austin Halleck "Hawken" with one key and had an Army San Marco with one key.
Thank you for showing the CVA and mentioning the Pedersoli.

LOL, I know YOU can count and aren't a newbie Ron!

You were new at one point yourself. Did you have someone mocking and ridiculing everything you said? Why would anyone want to go beyond being a "newbie" if that's the welcome they receive. Rather than bragging about your level of sophistication, let your posts show it. You don't have to post when you have nothing constructive to add that's relevant to the topic. All this achieves is getting good topics that many of us enjoy closed due to childish bickering.

Thank you for the photos and the information.
My wife and I went to Cody in 2003. Planned a two day tour of the Buffalo Bill museum, ended up staying five. Cody is a great little town, I heartily recommend it. I told a guard that I would have to stay a month to see everything, and he replied that I could spend the rest of my life there and not see everything, they keep changing the displays. I was just thinking last night that I would love to go back....But, first, I have a little Alaska jaunt coming up.

Pab, you have no idea what you're talking about. I was being literal. RON presumed I was being sarcastic about him and wasn't.

Actually, I didn't take it as sarcastic. Just pointing out that you successfully showed the obvious, clear as can be. I appreciated the information about the CVA and Pedersoli.

This isn't the first time you have done this. Contrary to what you may believe, other people do know what they are talking about. I'm tired of having great topics closed (Museum of the Fur Trade) because you want to belittle it and taunt other members. I have read many great posts by you so I don't see why you feel the need to launch petty attacks.

I don't think he was belittling anyone? Maybe we all read some things differently?

I know I heard an old pastor of mine preach a sermon once that after several days I thought "ya you can say it that way...but why?"

I have only really seen him go off on a vendor that apparently has had the last take of him. Oh...and some particular Nations products (of which I happen to agree).

Back to subject. I would LOVE to visit the Museum(s) and will next time I get up yonder.

He was belittling me, guys, not Ron. He thinks newbies (like me) are overly impressed by museums like the one in Chadron, NE. Our enthusiasm for small, out-of-the-way displays somehow offends him. So, he wants me, and others like me, to know how wrong we are. I am very much looking forward to visiting the Mountain Man museum in July, but I'll consider not discussing it in these forums, for fear of inciting the wrath!

That's strange.

The only post I see that is directed towards you has to do with your forum handle and high river water.

I must have missed something although I read thru this topic 3 times.

Zonie, it's from a thread last month about the Museum of the Fur Trade. It was deleted, presumably because of too many back and forth off-topic comments between Alden and me. He brought it up again early in this thread, veiled references to the previous discussion that he may have hoped would go un-noted. Frankly, I'm surprised and disappointed he did. It wasn't pleasant before and now he infects this discussion, as well. Evidently, pab1 read that earlier thread, too, and seems to remember how it went.

Yep, even so, I shouldn't have let myself get caught up bickering about it. Like I said, he has had some good posts on other topics. I'll just try bite my tongue in the future.

Lapoudre, I look forward to hearing about your trip to the Museum of the Mountain Man. I've only been there once but my son and I really enjoyed it. Don't miss the Green River rendezvous site overlook just outside of town.

That's nice... Now can you and pab1 please stop insisting on dragging this off topic? Ron actually put a lot of rational thought and effort into his thread.

I agree.

Lets keep the conversation on topic and quit bringing issues from old posts into this.

Now....back to the subject. :)

I have spent days there and have never left satisfied. One of the very best to visit. Another great one is below the arch in St. Louis.
