There has been much discussion on the reality of short or ball starters. Numerous arguments on their existence prevails. No matter your belief or thoughts, in 2017 Spence on this forum Provided this information:

As a result, a while ago I made a few over winter and have listed them for sale here. I do have some more and one is offered now.

This one is Walnut based with a 3/8” (.375) solid brass rod, tapped 10/32 if a jag or extension was desired.

These are $18.50 shipped to you. I do have others available in walnut, maple, ash, hickory or cherry. The rods can be ¼” (.250), 5/16” (.3125), 3/8” (.375) or ½” (.500) and any length, tapped to your wishes or not.

Back from travel and have made another starter in an apparent HC manner. This one is Maple, 3/8" brass rod, tapped 10 X 32. Price remains at $18.50 shipped. I like check, MO, PP, your option. Thanks to all the many previous customers and I welcome new friends.

One thought, sell them bare wood so the purchaser has the option to use the same products that they are using on their stock.
