Howdy Dave, and Welcome from South Texas. I worked in Nashua for a couple of years, lived in Sandown, and belonged to the Pennichuck Muzzleloaders in Nashua. Great club, great folks, but that was a long while ago - during the Bicentennial. Back then there was The First Congress Of New England Muzzleloaders too, but I don't know if they're still active or not. Sadly, I can't give you names because many of them have passed and I've lost touch with the others. This is a great group too --- helpful and friendly and an excellent source of information and experience, and of course, opinions. Again, Welcome!

Hey Everyone,

My name is Dave and I'm from NH. I'm new to muzzleloading, and I haven't been able to get out to the range and shoot any bp yet due to fatherly duties with a newborn and a toddler at home. I have, however, been able to collect a few muzzleloaders recently as my obsession with bp continues to grow. Currently, I have a Traditions Kentucky flintlock, T/C Hawken Custom and a Traditions/Pietta 1851 Navy. Next, I have my targets set on a Lyman GPR. I can't wait to take them out to the range, and I look forward to learning more from the folks in this forum.

I had a CVA Kentucky long rifle in .45 for over 20 years and hunted with it a few times but never killed anything.

Just recently I have added a Kentucky long rifle in .50 cal, a Pietta. 44 1860 revolver, a couple of Hawkins (.45 and.50cal) in kit form ( BTW, the .45 CVA was a kit, very satisfying building it) and a couple of used Hawkins. I haven't even shot any of them yet!

Oh yeah failed to mention, the used Hawkins were .45 and .50cal. I may even have a .54 laying around somewhere!

Hello from Idaho. Have a great time shooting. My second rifle was a GPR flinter. Built it from a kit. Learned the satisfaction of a fast lock.

I’d like to build eventually. I think to ease into it I’m thinking of buying a used TC Hawken stock to refinish. Brown/black all the brass. Then add a Green Mountain drop in 54 cal 1-66 twist barrel and an L&R lock.

Nice to find other BP users here in New Hampshire. I'm now a n otherwise happy member of a local gun club near New London but find that there are none but me who indulge the primal urge to blast targets using a flinter and other such paraphernalia. I finally got a chance to take out my guns and take a pic. T/C Hawken Custom perc 50 cal, Traditions Kentucky flint 50 cal and Traditions 1851 Navy 36 cal I also have a flint Traditions Deerhunter with a synthetic stock which I’m either selling to a friend or swapping to a wood stock
