I have found a site that has exciting topics and information to learn from about muzzleloading and early American History as it truly was...Glad to be a part of such a great site...

Welcome. You'll find a wealth of knowledge here. So have a seat, fill yer tin cup as the coffees jest finished boiling.

Welcome! You're right, an exciting site with a wealth of information. Join in!

Welcome to the MLF! There are lots of friendly knowlegable folks here in camp so pull up a stump and contribute when you can.

Howdy;

Glad to see someone else from Waco. Maybe we can go shooting one day.

Keith

Howdy, Buffler, and welcome to the best muzzleloading site there is. I went to school in Wacko, not a bad area for a blackpowder guy.

Welcome, Buff-dude! You've come to the right place, alright! Pull up a stump and join in the fun!

Glad to see a fellow Wacoan on the site... I went up to Oklahoma during Thanksgiving to do a little Muzzleloaler hunting but didn't see anything....I haven't had a chance to hunt around Texas yet, but always looking for a place to shoot the ole Muzzle Gun...I shoot a .54 Hawkins with a Green Mountain barrel, very accurate, atleast it was when I shot it last...do you know if the Aquilla area rendezvous is still being held in the early spring... I'm looking for a place to go and shoot.

Last I heard it wasn't - but Bobcat and Frog said one may be starting up again - also Reb said something too - I generally shoot with ALRA guys, and at rendezvous and with the Dallas Muzzleloaders

I see your are from Colorado now, I've been invited up near Fairpaly Colorado for September Elk Hunt. I hunt with a .54 caliber patch and ball hawkins, was wondering if a .54 can take down a cow elk as that is what I am wanting to get when I go hunt, not looking for horns, just meat...Thanks for any help or suggests you can give..Trent

Reb, are you referring to C.W. Rhoads who use to run Rebs Trading post out of Robinson.. Where is there a place to shoot around Waco or any close driving distances from Waco... I hear that Glenrose has a shoot but don't know how often they shoot...I attended the Ft. Parker Christmas at the Fort this year and they were having a shoot, but the wife and I just drove out for the day and not to compete, it didn't look like as large of a crowd as they have had in the past... thanks for any help.. Trent

Yes, that is correct - he carries some accessories that are very useful as well as ball and cut flints (not that I like them much, but it beats nothing when you need one)

I haven't spoken to C.W for a number of years, I need to give him a call, I'm looking for a 45 or 50 caliber flinter to hunt with but I'm looking for a kentucky (longrifle style) there is a lady down at the Courthouse that has a .50 caliber flinter that was built by a local guy maker back in the 80's but the price is a little steap for me...I'm still looking for a place to shoot around Waco, if you know of any place I would appreciate any info.. thanks Trent..

I spoke to C.W. over the weekend, he says he will opening his shop, Reb's Trading Post back up as a side business because of increased interests in Black Powder Shooting..He also said that the guy who owned the land where the Aquilla Rendezvous use to be held has sold the land.
Trying something new, I am testing a Custom Built .50 caliber Flinter that hasn't seen any spark since the 80's, I picked it up over the weekend and spent most of the day cleaning all the crud out of the barrel left behind from someone who didn't know how to take care of a gun..
I'm anxious to shoot a little more to see how well this ole gun will shoot...I'm still a little new to the flint locks flinching at pan ingninton, but this gun is interesting, it has alot of carving on the cury maple stock and is topped with a green mountain barrel so it should be a very accurate shooter...
