Hello All!

I inherited a weapon that used to belong to my Grandfather and then my father and now me. It appears to be an old flintlock muzzleloader but beyond that, no idea. It is highly carved and detailed and bears the words "Black Powder only" and "Made in Italy" on the barrel. Is there any mechanism on this forum through which I can submit photos and maybe get some of ya'lls help figuring out exactly what and when this weapon is?

THANKS!

Welcome!

The words stamped on it show that it is unlikely to be much older than the mid-1960s.

That is when replica BP guns really began to come into the USA thanks to Val Forgett and his Navy Arms company.

Many ofthese early imports lacked proper proof marks - the little stamps andcyphers that you'll see these days that tell us when it was proofed, and therefore, made. Until we get the pics, please have a close look all over the gun and tell us what you see on it apart from the stamps you've already mentioned.

Welcome to the forum.

While your trying to figure out how to post pictures here maybe you could tell us if your pistol is a single shot or is it a revolver?

That could help us figure out what you have. :)

The way I download pictures to here is I take the picture with a camera that has a memory card then download it to your computer. You then need an account at photobucket.com. Download the picture to your photobucket account from your home computer and then copy the url of the picture you want to post. Come back to this side and in your thread post box past the url you copied from photobucket. Then hit the preview button to make sure it looks ok then hit add post button to add the post so we can see the picture.

It is easier then it sounds, good luck.
