Hello from Australia,I need some help tracking down the manufacturers of 2 percussion BP rifles in my local gun dealers.
One is marked "Dikar Frontier", 87, and is in .45 cal (Can't seem to find a serial number) and the other is marked "Armi Jaeger" s/n 23700, and is also .45 cal.
From what I can gather from the 'net the Dikar could have been imported into the US by CVA, then sent to Australia. The "Armi Jaeger" has come up with a blank so far.
Can one of you knowledgeable folks help me with this one please?
Thanks, Hilly.

Hi,
Armi Jaeger made in Italy and imported to US by Navy Arms Corp.
Dikar made in Spain and supposed to be not to expensive weapons.
ARILAR

while the Navy Arms is/was dont know about the new owners. Fred

Thanks guys, are these makes of guns considered to be well made or something to steer clear of?

Pretty moderate quality - nothing special. Armi Jaeger made a series of .22 combat rifle look-alikes a while back, and they are simple blowback copies of the FAMAS, M15 and AK47. Nothing to blow your frock up - cheap and cheerful and not quite throw-away models.

We don't see any of the black powder weapons here in UK from either maker.

Whatever, Pedersoli they ain't.

Thanks, tac. This may explain why 3 people have looked at the Armi Jaeger, said they wanted it and then never came back to pick it up.
Methinks I may as well leave it on the shelf as well.
Thanks, Hilly.

I own an Armi Jaeger Zouave and it's not a bad gun.

It is probably made as well as most of the other Italian guns except rather than using Walnut for the stock (like they should have) they used some light colored hardwood and stained it a very dark brown color.
Functionally it has had no problems.

As with many Spanish guns, the Dikar is a functional gun which if bought for a really low price can be fun to shoot.
Parts for either of these guns might be hard to find though.

Hmmmmm. Spare parts? In Australia?
Getting firearm parts through Customs can be a nightmare so I think they can stay where they are.
Thanks again,
Hilly.
