A friend has this flintlock pistol. Came from his uncle, or great uncle who was a History teacher. He is just curious of it's history. Thanks for any and all input. I believe it says Lazarino?
Thank you. I've only seen the photos myself, haven't seen it in person. The steel does look old.Others can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is probably a late 18th or early 19th century eastern pistol (Turkish?) made from Italian or Spanish pieces (likely pieces from older, obsolete guns).
Yep. I read he was a barrel maker, then went to building whole guns.A real Lazarino barrel is very scarce. I think he was a famous barrel maker . I’ve read most barrels stamped with his name are fakes from back in the day.
From some photos I found online that look similar, the **** jaw was a work of art on its own. Too bad it's missing. It's smooth bore miked to just under 50.I’m going to go out on a limb and say it’s an Italian pistol. But it may have been made for export to the Ottoman Empire. Be worth fixing up!
This is a good early one and is likely a real Lazarro Lazarino. Looking at the style of lock I believe it to be 1660s +/- 10 years.A friend has this flintlock pistol.
