sounds like its functioning normal to me... I checked mine out and it has little marks in just ahead of the cylinder notches in the beveled area and locks up at the second click when cocking the hammer.
 
It's not just black powder replica revolvers that do this. I have a Ruger Black Hawk and also a Super Black Hawk and they both drop the bolt right after the cylinder starts to turn. Functioning is fine, but it leaves that worn spot in the bluing on the cylinder. My black powder revolvers all hold the bolt longer than the Rugers, but still leave a short worn spot before the locking notch.
