I keep reading to take a pillow ticking strip and put a ball on top of it and push it slightly below the muzzle then cut it. After I cut it how do you spit lubricate the patch?

You got the idea for the process backwards. :shocked2: Patch should be lubed before laying over the muzzle and putting ball on top.
Techniques vary but I lube large pieces of my cloth (pillow ticking) with a beeswax/oil mix and store in a plastic bag. For use I tear a strip apx 1 1/2" to 2" wide and use that for loading. Personally I do not use spit for shooting lube as it dries.

Imho, Yes because the sizing prevents the fabric from soaking up the lube as well as it should. Its there to help the fabric lay flat for shipping and saving space (Its something like a starch.0 Try this, get a piece that has sizing and one that's been washed and drop a couple of drops of water on them. The piece with the sizing will not soak up the water has fast as the washed piece.

Well now I guess I've learned something since I never knew that the ticking was supposed to be washed I've been shooting more than 30 years without doing it and getting great accuracy to boot.
