There is a good chance that in August I will be taking my fiance to Hershey Park for a day or two. This is more for her than anything else. I really hate rides and will probably watch her more than anything else.

So. The big question for me is there anything in the immediate area concerning muzzleloading? Specialty shops, etc? Thanks.

Dixon's is a good choice, but I would also suggest that you head to Getteysburg as a side trip. There once was a whole bunch of muzzleloading going on there. Seriously though, Hereshey is close by and a visit to GBerg would be within rifle shot, so to speak....

Harrisburgh isn't far from Hershey. There's a wonderful, fairly new, Civil War Museum in Harrisburgh. graybeard

Check-out Dixon Muzzle Loading in Kempton PA, at Rt. 78 exit #40. Cabela's is just down the road at exit #29B on Rt. 78. Dixon is closed on Wednesdays. Cabela's has a 100,000 gal. fish tank to gawk at, a built-in restaurant, a special SALE area called the Bargain Cave and is laid-out to make use of all 250,000 sq. feet of sales space.

Unless you have to go to Hershey for the fake factory tour, you could stay in the Allentown PA area and go to Dorny Park & Wildwater Kingdom. The rides are just as good, if not better, and the waterpark is included in the admission price. I know this because my brother has season passes. No charge for parking either! The waterpark isn't sooo bad on a hot humid August day :) .

Welcome to PA! Enjoy your stay & have fun!

Dave

If you go South on I-81 to Chambersburg Pa you can kill two birds with one stone. There is a Gander Mountain store as well as Fort Chambers Muzzleloading Shop. http://www.fortchambers.com/index.html
Fort Chambers is not quite Dixon's but if you are in the area it is worth the stop.

yeah...Fort Chambers is nice if you are local, but a far drive from Hershey.

I have never been there...but i searched the yellow pages, you can call and find out.
Have fun at hershey though, They have a great new water park there. Make sure you bring swim trunks though. We just went a few weeks ago. Have fun!

People. I appreciate all of the replies and comments. This trip is more for her. She loves rides and that stuff. Me on the other hand, I get sick just looking at a ride never mind being on one. Last water ride I took cost me an ear infection and being dizzy for a couple of days. Needless to say, I don't go on rides.

I will definitely take a side trip for myself.
