I just tried out my new .12 ga. New Englander barrel today. It has the screw in chokes. I had the Imp. Cyl. tube in it and was using 80 grs of KIK 2f powder, a lubed overpowder fiber cushion wad, and a thick denim patched .595 rd ball. The very first shot hit in the 1 1/2" square black aiming point from 25 yds. The second shot was a little low but centered and the third was touching the first hole in the black. I then tried from 50 yds and was on the paper offhand. So if you can get some .600 rd balls you might try them. They load easy, and you get higher velocity and a flatter trajectory with the same powder charge than you do with the .690 ball.

Hey I haven't had a chance to even test the .690 balls I got. I only got 20 to try. Thats the same barrel. Mine came with three chokes also. I use the clinder one for grouse. I bought some 6 shot and at the price of lead shot it will be good for everything.
I had thought about fiber wads behind the .690 ball. So will look for some .600 balls. I will be stopping at our local BP shop next week. Glad you said something because I had 12ga balls on my list. I was going to ask him what he thought about it. I know he had said the clinder choke would be the best choice for RB the last time I had talked to him. Hey I'll try to get going on some tests soon. I use Goex FF.
Thanks
