How did the builder do on your TOTW Jaeger? Let's hear the details man. I may get some ideas that would serve me well with mine. For example, does it have a muzzle cap? I did not install one but would be interested in one made of horn. Is it browned, blued or in the white? Sling? Sorry for the questioned but Jaegers interest me.

He did well...very well indeed.

Yes, I got a TOW Jaeger kit, and it turned out to be beyond my abilities to make a nice rifle out of it. (for those of you that did not know that)

So, a VERY kind gentleman in Alabama (guess who) let me send it to him, and he built the rifle. As he was really booked up on other rifle projects, and to save me a couple bucks he sent it back to me "in the white", with just a small amount of sanding and finishing to do. He really pulled my butt out of the fire.

The TOW maple stock was no good, grain through the wrist was not right or something, but as I had already worked on it TOW would not take it back and we had to start with a new one, and he made me a very nice walnut stock with cast off and everything.

The rifle is really something else. Feel, balance and handling is unreal. She's so petite!

I was going to brown it, but then I went with a "traditional" dark blue/black. The walnut stock is really dark, and the blue-black really goes great with it. The whole rifle is very "dark"...really looks "mean". !! From what I have read, browning, leaving the metal in the white, or a dark blue-black are all "correct" for a Jaeger. But again the dark stock and the blue-black REALLY compliment each other.

Definately went with a nose cap, and he also did a toe-plate for it. He did set it up for a sling, but I have not made one for it yet. It turned out to be a very business like rifle, very plain, all iron trim, nose cap and toe plate, etc. The rifle is so well executed, but very plain, it all comes together so well. And that's what I wanted, a very plain, straight forward, serious hunting rifle...but one that still "blows your mind" when you really start looking at the details....and especially when you pick the thing up!!

I'm still in the process of oil-finishing the stock, but she's good to go. Would have shot it today but we were having SLEET...NOT good conditions for sighting in.

Ha ha..."sorry for the questions"...like a guy DOESN'T want to talk about his JAEGER!!!

Be sure to post what you are doing with your Jaeger on the flintlock section...I almost missed this post but someone "tipped" me off.
