like i don't got enough problems already.....you build it or buy it? those big barrels scare me...
 
Thank you Rebel, I took your advice and bare balled :shocked2: brown bess, as well as adding 15 gr of powder. I went from having a pattern at 40 yards to having minute of paper plate accuracy at 50 yards.

I now feel with a little more practice by Novenber I may be able to make meat with bess :grin:
 
I'm going to try your bare ball load in a .66 cal smooth bore. Whats the ideal ball size for this please.
 
Rebel..as always, I'm a bit confused. What is the difference in a "thick over powder wad" and "half a lubed fibre wad"? Are you using a whole fiber wad over the powder and then splitting one in half and lubing it to go over the thick one? Are they both the same material?
 
I am using a hard overpowder wad and then a half a lubed fiber cushion wad under the ball. The way i do it is to pour the powder then start the overpowder wad and lubed cushion wad just below the muzzle. Then set the ball on top sprue up, put the Thin overshot card on top and ram it all down at once.
