Years ago, I shot a cap and ball rifle that I built from a CVA Mountain Rifle kit. It came out really nice and shot well. I still have it but haven't shot it in a long time. I'm thinking of getting it out again to use. I'm also interested in making some high quality black powder for my own use to develop a reliable process. I've found some good info on YouTube that I have started testing. I'm also considering looking for a nice high quality Kentucky Long Rifle flint lock kit, not one the cheapeer ones, but a mid to high end model with a nice stock. I'm looking for suggestions and reviews.

Here we go, I got some photos. This is my kit CVA Mountain Rifle that I finished sometime around 1980. The stock is lightly figured maple and still looks nice. I removed the extra finger hook from the trigger guard when I built it; I think it looks better that way. I left the lock plate blued, all the other steel parts got the acid brown finish.
