I have been hunting deer in WI for 49 years. My brothers tell me that I don't actually hunt them, I assassinate them. I hunted with a very nice shooting Remington 700 and almost never needed a second shot. I recently started hunting with a CVA Bobcat that I picked up about 10 years ago to play with.
I lost a good friend last fall and just last week, his widow informed me that I was to get his favorite gun, a .50 cal T/C Hawkins in like new condition. Well, I am very touched by this and I will be hunting with his gun from now on. Almost nobody hunts with sidelock muzzleloaders here anymore and most of the people that I know think I am nuts for using one.

You're not nuts. You've just been hanging around with the wrong crowd.

Welcome to the right crowd!

You will bring to muzzleloading your shooting and hunting skills, and your friends will learn that you are enriched by the experience.

Welcome to the Forum. :hatsoff:

I too live in WI and hunt turkeys for some number of years in your area. Turkey hunting with a ML is great! Ive taken one with percussion and two with a rock lock. Welcome to this forum!

Welcome! How about you boys running a few of those deer over the ice here to Michigan. I hear tell its frozen all the way. We know how to treat (cook) them right. Somehow they taste better when harvested with a round ball. Good bunch here, lots of info.
