It is both a solvent and lube, works wonders in both applications.I can picture the Castor Oil acting as a lube but the other ingredients seem more of a solvent.
How do you keep it in the grooves of a Maxi -Ball or Maxi -Hunter??? Seem very “liquid” to me..It is both a solvent and lube, works wonders in both applications.
Johnny, there is not petro on my lube unless those ol’ rams have been feeding on old tires!!!Please dont use petro based oil, it just gums stuff up.
Been my lube since day one.
1lb Bee's wax
1lb Lard
4-6oz cornola oil. More in winter, less in summer.
I don't, it's used as a patch lube for round balls, for lubing mini-maxi bullets I use SPG.How do you keep it in the grooves of a Maxi -Ball or Maxi -Hunter??? Seem very “liquid” to me..

Got it. So in the end the recommendation to the OP is to buy SPG?I don't, it's used as a patch lube for round balls, for lubing mini-maxi bullets I use SPG.
Nope but I have tried just about every concoction listed and for me SPG is 10 times better, the OP can use whatever works for him.Got it. So in the end the recommendation to the OP is to buy SPG?
Looking into making my own homemade bullet lube with some sort of combination of beeswax and food grade grease or oil.Nope but I have tried just about every concoction listed and for me SPG is 10 times better, the OP can use whatever works for him.
i have 6 more pints of this year. burn it and i will send some more!I’m hoarding your bear fat lube until I get down to fine tuning the .45 SMRs. Figured it was no since wasting it on sighting in.
Seeing as the OP will have to buy most of the ingredients (beeswax) to make his lube, I guess my suggestion would be to buy SPG and he said .So what’s you suggestion for the fellow shooter?
Well, since you did not mix your own "homemade" Ballistol then I will toss in my 'homemade':Looking into making my own homemade bullet lube with some sort of combination of beeswax and food grade grease or oil. I was even thinking about doing a Ballistol mixture. I would love to hear any advice.

Appreciate everyone’s comments I did some research in almost all of the suggestions. I’m interested to try spg lube at some point because of its reputation. Although, for the mean time I’m going to experiment a little with animal and plant based oils. I ordered some coconut, castor, and jojoba oil to mix in different proportions with some legit beeswax I found. I’ll try to update how well it works out after I get some time to go shoot again but regardless, thanks again to everyone for your helpful advice.Looking into making my own homemade bullet lube with some sort of combination of beeswax and food grade grease or oil.
