I am right handed, carry horn on right bag on left, it is easier for me to charge, load and prime that way, after shooting I can put gun butt down pull meaure on thong, with left hand hold gun and meassure with left hand, drop horn back to side, pour charge, reach into bag with left hand for patch&ball thumb start wet patch ball, cradle gun in left arm to prime from same horn and am ready to fire. I have tried lots of things but this works best for me,which is the key for each shooter I would think.

I'm right handed and carry my bag and horn on right side. My horn is carried higher than the bag and with a seperate strap.

Ben, it sounds like you could make another horn with the scrim that shows on yer right side. GW

---right handed---carry bag on left side with horn on left just high enough to lay on bag flap---

This has been a really enjoyable thread. Living down here in El Paso, where there isn't a whole lot of interest in muzzleloading, I don't get to hang out with many fellow muzzleloaders. So I haven't had much chance to see how others carry their gear. Seeing the variety of answers has been great!

I'm right handed and carry my bag to the left and my horn to the right. I find I can reach into the bag for patches and balls easier that way without the horn being in the way. I keep my powder measure tied to the horn, so I can cradle the rifle in the crook of my left arm while I measure and charge.

I'm seeing some ideas that I want to try though. I guess it really is "whatever works for you".

Okay, this is my MLF version of "horn placement"and I'm a lefty so... I carry my Swampy shootin bag on my left side, I wear my Soggy powder horn on my right, to load my Roy Stroh smoothie with a roundball outa my Rock Creek rawhide ballbag an cut a patch with either my Pitchypine, RickD or CProkoff knife, careful not to drop, an cut my Halfmoon Ranger leggins,then.....hope I didn't ferget somethin! :haha:

I carry my horn and shooting bag on my left side. The horn is carried high above the bag so when moving about in a hurry (not too much of that nowadays at my age) etc, it can be immobilized with just a little arm pressure.

Thanks. Haversacks are nice for extra duffel etc. Locale is AZ high country few miles south of Williams.

I have my horn on my left and possible bag on right.Seems to work well that way for me.Now let me ask others what pocket do you carry your wallet in that aren't carring purses? I carry mine in my right rear but notice more people carry theirs in left rear.Same with change and keys which pockets???Funny why do we do things this way,no reason, habit, mommy or daddy taught us that way?????Thinking White Cloud

Mine go in the front pockets to save my spine. Long sits with a wallet on one side or the other will eventually produce chiropracter visits.

AHHH.Old school "money clip" and "change purse" guy, thought all you guys were gone. I know what you mean about the BONES DOCTOR putting ones kid thru college down here also.Anyway "How" :surrender: White Cloud

Pouch goes on my right side. No horn, extra loads are put in TC 4 N 1 speed loaders. Cutting down on the amount of stuff I haul around now days.
