I made this the other day, finished it today. First thing I have been able to make in a long time! Felt good!
It's a cow horn tip, that was very light in color. I gave it a little color with some "Magic Maple" stain (which, as I understand it, is essentially Chromium Trioxide). Then washed it off/neutralized it with baking soda. Not a bad color, and you can actually see the carving and shaping details now, whereas it was hard to even see the octagon flats when it was white!
