The range my muzzleloading club shoots at, Rio Solado Shooting Range in Mesa, Arizona, had their annual hospitality day this last Saturday. The rnge was open to the general public to come out and see the different disciplines of shooting offered. Members from all the different groups were there to let the public try out the guns used by each group, hoping to get more people interested and the muzzleloading area was a beehive of activity. We were pretty busy with shotgun, rifle and pistol/revolver shooting. We even had three cannon going off just for fun. It was a warm day, about 100 degrees but there were covers over the loading areas. Quite a few people expressed a desire to continue shooting muzzleloaders, which is a good thing. Hope we can get some more folks to get involved. Everything was free unless they needed eye protection which was sold to them for $1.00, ear protection was free and there were quite a few young shooters getting their first taste of black powder. The only other charge was at the main range where they were letting people shoot full auto weapons, the charge was for ammo, as it should be.
