Muzzleloading season is coming up shortly in Florida. One problem with warm weather hunting is ticks. The deer are full of 'em, so are the coyotes. The coyotes I can throw in a bag and deal with later but the deer is always a problem. I put on gloves and a white shirt worn backwards and pick off the ticks as they're crawling up my arms. No matter what I do I always have a few ticks on me by day's end. So far I've just lived with it but does anyone have any tricks for the ticks? Maybe I should take up Golf- just kidding. :relax:

Ewwwww. Deer cooties! I've never even seen a tick in this state (had to go visit my brother in SC to pick up my first one. Ugh).

Like Rebel says. DEET. We do have deer ticks in parts of NY, and now you can get Vet proctology gloves that go up to your armpits for $1.49 Not politically correct, but it sure beats Rocky Mountain Spotted Liver Flukes or Dutch Elm DIsease and all them other things deer carry now.

Hey all:
I just finished up the bottle of Doxycylene or whatever the stuff's called. An antibiotic. The doc gave it to me to ward of Lyme's disease. Had a deer tick on me that had a full meal that I missed when checking.
Stumpkiller, maybe they're moving up to your location. I know two people with Lyme's disease and it's nothing ya want to get. I don't ever remember getting ticks on just a few years back. I seem to get them while taking naps on a sunny slope, a nice pile of leaves, and I'm out. Wife says I'm nothin but tick bait. Vulture bites are the next thing.
I got a can of stuff I believe is called Marathon that seems to work If I could ever remember to take along. It's worked evertime I used it.
About the sleeping and hunting, I do take along a scout who seems to keep his eyes open for deer, My son woke me up on saturday morn with a bang and a cloud of black powder smoke, with a deer on the ground. Woke up to see deer going everywhich way, thought I died an went to heaven. Ain't no critters sneaking past us.

Treat all clothes you'll be wearing with a permethrin repellent such as Repel Permanone spray.
