Are any/all of these better than a standard nipple? I have a Lyman Plains rifle with a 6 X.75 nipple. Thanks-

IMO, Hot Shots are outstanding...the first thing I did to every percussion I bought was to replace the factory nipple with a Hot Shot.
One of the ML suppliers substituted Spitfires for Hot Shots on an order one time and I thought they were junk, made them give me a refund
:m2c:

Never tried Spitfire nipples. But, if I have a choice, I use Hot Shot nipples. I think there are none better. JMHO

Another vote for the Hotshot nipple. Replacing the factory nipple with one of these is the first thing I do also.

Do you find that #11 caps dont seat very well on them? Even when I push the cap down firmly the hammer falls on it, only to push it on further, leaving me with a "click" instead of a "bang"!!

lyman nipple are a pain in the butt, seem aftermarket nipple are to long ,I have a gpr and only found the right nipple from thunderridge.I can tell you it two attempts back in forth deals to get the correct nipple for the gun.The shorter the nipple shaft the better the hammer throw on center,I also found when the cap was placed on the nipple it took a knife edge to remove it if the gun was not going to be fired

My vote has always been for the Uncle Mike's Hot Shot Nipple. Every rifle I own has one. Thompson Center also makes a hot shot nipple out of stainless steel which works real good...

(C....it's the same hot shot nipple)

Roundball I always suspected that but was never 100% sure. I bought a bunch of them last year at Wal Mart at the end of their season sale for $2.00 each. I figured that would last me a long time....

Those T/C Vent liners that you told me to get, who makes them? They work excellent in the Hawkins Flinter....

If it seems like the caps are fitting too tight it may be the brand of cap you're using. I've found the RWS #1075 that I normally use are a very tight fit, sometimes to the point of being hard to remove after firing, but I've never had a misfire because of it. Remington No. 11's seem to be slightly looser. :results:

They sure are a fast vent liner aren't they...I don't know if TC makes them or buys them from a vendor...seems like there would be a lot of tooling up expense just to make a single specialized little, low cost item and I wouldn't think TC would bother given that there are vendors who are in that business so I assume it's outsourced...it would be a good question for TC
