How accurate is your smallbore???

How small are your groups with your 36, 32, 29 or smaller rifles? DO YOU FEEL THAT THE 32 AND SMALLER BORES ARE VERY TOUCHY AS TO EXACT POWDER MESUREMENTS, EXACT PATCH LUBING, BORE CONDITION (READ: WIPING BETWEEN SHOTS), ETC, ETC?

These are the first 5 shots I ever fired from my .32:

25 yards,no wiping, measured less than 1/2" inch. Either I got lucky and guessed right as to a load or they aren't that fussy.

They might be a little pickier in regard to powder charge as a 2 grain variation on a 20 grain charge is a lot more percentage wise than the same 2 grain variation on a 100 grain charge.

My .36 with the H&H 40" barrel is more accurate than I can shoot. It has taken numerous squirrel and rabbits. It did not take too long to dial it in to 22 gr. FFFg Swiss and a pillow ticking patch with soluable oil lube and 000 buckshot.

I own and shoot a .36 and a .32. In my experience they are not fussy, easily fouled or hard to clean. Though both rifles shoot much better than I can hold, I've fired 3/4" groups at 50 yards with the .36. the .32 will do that at 35 yards. both cut one-holers at 25.

My .36 is really picky with the ball and patch combo I am using. A .350 ball and .018 ticking. The group only closed up with 40gr of 3F. Granted, I started at 30gr and 20 or 25gr might have given similar results as 40gr.

I was happy with my first off-hand group at 50yds with the rifle too. I do find I shoot better with the smaller bore.

I had a T.C. Cherokee in 36 caliber for my youngest boy and it was the most accurate off hand paper gun I ever shot out to fifty yards.I sure wish I hadn't let it go.

10 shots from my .36 taken at 35 yards while leaning against a round bale. It'll do better than I can.
Cleans easy. Spit patch wipe every 5-7 shots for easy loading.

I usually get 3/4" groups from my .32 at 50yds (25gr Goex 3F). It is not finicky at all in fact I have to be more careful when I shoot my .50 Early Virginia than my .32.

I get about an inch at 50 yards with both my .36 and .32. It would probably be tighter if my eyes were better. Both like 30 grains 3F. If I drop below that with the .32 I start getting fliers every few shots. Neither one requires cleaning between shots. Both will go all day without cleaning.

Heres what my traditions deer hunter in 32.cal well do , I,m shooting 20 grains of fffg, homecast rb , bluestripe pillow ticking & home made lube , diss is 10 shots at 25 yards off hand.

Haven't been able to get to the range yet and had almost a year, sucks!

Its an old Douglas barrel, think the twist is 1 in 48 but not too sure... I will have to look at it again. I was shooting buckshot, .008 patching and 50 grains of 3f... It was at a bench shoot, I normally use 25 grains out to 50 yards, but it wasnsn't grouping at 100 so I doubled the charge. :haha: Its a 7/8's 44" long barrel :v
