How goes it from Indiana/Cincy

Just signed up and just startin to look around. Names Ash, i'm from Indiana, not too far from Friendship, IN. And to start, here's a lil background about myself; i first got into muzzleloaders, bushcraft, and The Frontiersmen books by Allan Eckart which was my first book from my grandfather when i was around 8 or 9 years old. Long story short i grew up, went to college, moved to Cincinnati, and then he past away last summer, i am now 24 years old and i'm tryin to get back some of the parts i lost since that 8 year old boy about 16 years ago and hopefully carry on the skills he taught me and the memories i have of him. So here's to keeping "the frontiersman" in me alive and never forgetting where you come from.

Welcome to the Forum from Kansas!

I found a passion for firearms and camping in the military and then eventually met my beloved husband who introduced me into the world of Muzzleloading and Mountain Man Rendezvous camping... and even though my first two rendezvous were the two extremes, super hot and then a blizzard... I fell in love with it all and now judge the time of year by the next rendezvous we can attend. :thumbsup:

I’m not too far away in the little (and getting littler all the time) town of Connersville, IN. If you can make it to Friendship in a few weeks we could try to touch bases. The club nearest me has gone 100% over the log, but there are lots of good places to shoot not far from you. The Cincinnati club is a good outfit with good people and has a range near Rumke mountain off US 27.
It isn’t about muzzleloading, but a book you would probably really enjoy is Robert Ruark’s The Old Man and the Boy, and to a lesser degree, The Old Man’s Boy Grows Older. Lots of good hunting and fishing stuff.

Ya that sounds great! i'm definately gonna be there but i don't know what the exact dates are. but if you wanna send me your contact info and we can go shoot. I actually just bought my first long rifle a few days ago and i'm going to pick it up in a couple weeks! It's a custom .45 caliber percussion made by a guy from around Oxford (Miami) Ohio i think....

The National Muzzlelaoding Rifle Spring National Shoot in Friendship,IN is June 9th to June 17th.
Check the program out. Lots of free educational stuff with the admission fee paid.
Also a tip for the shopping: You may check out the wares in the primitive encampment first, then head down to commercial row. The PC merchandise on the primitive range is often of better quality and much more reasonably priced. You can find real gems there. Quite a few people spent all their money down in traders row before checking the primitive site out, and often found better stuff for less on the primitive site. But they already spent it all. You really need to go the first weekedn becasue it dwindles down a little and some artists only attend the weekends becasue they have to work.

Thats Awesome! I didn't know they had classes. Thanks for the info, im gonna have to check out those out when i go down there. If anyones interested, im looking to meet some fellow enthusiasts from the forum at Friendship this year if anyone wants to meet up while im sure a few of us will be there.
