I don't pay particular attention to the amount or location of the prime...my LRs always fire if sparks are present.
Don't think flintlocks should be fussy as to the amount or location of the prime....otherwise how did we in years past fight wars or supply meat on the table?
Many times my charger throws too much 4f and I just brush it off w/my finger so the frizzen closes all the way....and at other times, a much smaller charge is thrown, but the LR still fires w/o much difference in ignition times.
To me, that's how a flintlock should perform, but evidently many don't......Fred
