How many pounds of powder do the rest of you fellas shoot "per year"??

Up until 2 years ago, I was shoot'n an average of 22-24 lbs. per year,.... but, with old age slow'n me down some, I only shot 20 lbs. year before last, and 18 lbs. last year (but, last summer wasn't a "normal" summer for me in any respect).

With any luck, I hope to burn at least 18-20 lbs. agin this year!! ::

"GOEX rules"!! :applause: ::

Not as many as I'd like to! I probably average 8 to 10 pounds a year any more. Use to be a time it was 12 to 14 pounds...

I don't seem to have as much time as I use to??? :hmm:

I don't know how many pounds i shoot, but I buy a case every year.A son and 2grandchildren sure use it up.

I'm guesstimating that I burn about 10 pounds/year. In a roughly 6-7 hour day of shooting at the range, I'm able to get in about 40 shots on the weekend and closer to 50 if I go during the week (If my boss is reading this, I have never gone during the week because, of course, I would only miss work if I'm sick).

Not having a nearby range, not near as much as I'd like to. BUT!!! during the summer I can go thru almost a pound a week with demos, shooting, teaching, and having too much fun.

I limit myself to (1) 25 pound keg a year. I don't know if anyone noticed but the price of a keg (25 pounds) went up $15. ::

not nearly enough....need to shoot more, do less work. I think I only burnt about 4 pounds last year.

Slowpoke - I didn't know you could get B/P by the "keg". ??

Regards, sse

about 25 to thirty pounds a year, wish it was more!!!!! :RO:  :redthumb:

I'd be exagerating if I said 5 pounds. I bet I don't manage a "range" session a week and only 30 shots or so then- I live a long way from town and the range is where I say it is from one day to the next. Mostly I shoot snowshoe hares at 30 grains a pop, and half a dozen shots is a busy day. A guy can only eat so much rabbit!

I probably go through about 12-14 pounds a year.
I'd use up 100 pounds if I had the time.

I'm guessing more than 5lbs, less than 10...am trying to remember when we ordered the last 25lb case...Hank

10-12 pounds a year average. This year likely a little more as I'm going to be getting a flintlock.

Now lets see...I shoot 13 days per year, and about 8 events each day, average load about 70gns, but hold on, some of those are only mild handgun loads of about 15gns, so if we average that out it equals.......I'll just get the calculator out and let you know........
Jim.

I wunder what the "repies" to this question would be,.... if, it was asked in the modern muzzleloader forum??

I'd go ther and ask, but, them fellas don't care much fer ol' rollingb!! :haha: ::

SSE,
It's not really a "keg" so to speak: the wooden type. It's what the guy I buy it from call it. It comes in a box, inside there's a super thick plastic bag that holds 25 pounds of loose powder. yeah, I wonder why he calls it a keg now.

My brothers has a inline, he used 12 pellets last year. He also has a that new rifle I built him, wonder if it will see any use this year.... doubt it.

Thet reminds me of the old ancient chineese proverb,.... "You can lead a fella to blackpowder, but, you cain't make'im burn it"!!
