I shot 6 lbs. last year but the wife was ill and in the hospital off and on for a half a dozen times or more so mine time to go was very limited. Lucky I got to go to Cananda carabou hunting and to Co elk hunting. I normaly burn up between 10 and 12 lbs.

Now that's an interesting question that I had never really considered before. I use approximately 1 pound for the few reenactments I attend each year. One half pound for hunting. Twenty pounds for twice a week target shooting forty weeks of the year ( I don't do much shooting in December, January and February). That's a total of twenty One and a half pounds per year. Aside from my front loaders, a lot of that is through my cap n ball revolvers and metallic cartridge rifles and revolvers. I never imagined I used that much powder in a year. No wonder I'm broke!

I wunder what the "repies" to this question would be,.... if, it was asked in the modern muzzleloader forum??

I'd go ther and ask, but, them fellas don't care much fer ol' rollingb!! :haha: ::

You know, I've never really kept track. I've recently got a 4 bore handgonne that spits out 4 ounces a throw. Thank the gods for wheel weights! I save the good stuff for my rifles and revolvers.

just :m2c:

My powder usage tends to flucuate from year to year. Last year was 28 pounds total. Thus far this year I am at 4 pounds already though.

:haha: :haha: What you shoot'n anyway??.. a mountain Howitzer?? :shocking:

Nope no mountian hoawitzer here. Just a couple (3) 20 gauge smoothbores (a flintlock, a matchlock and an early period flintlock) and a gonne. I have just been lucky enough to have good weather on the days I'm not working. I also spend all summer running ranges on a Boy Scout camp which gives lots of oppertunity to burn powder.

Hail Gonne is 4bore and flat based ball is 4.7 oz. Put 22 rounds through yesterday - just shy of 6.5 pounds for one shoot. Also been doing a lot with my .62 pistol and fusil.
