I am curious how many years of combined experience we have in this group. To make things easier on me to keep a tally, when telling me your time reply like this...

12 years

...and only have the years in the comment with nothing else. Any other discussions are welcome, but anything other than this format will not be counted. I will occasionally post a running total.

I am also doing the same in the Re-enactment section.

Started as a teenager at 16 or so shooting original 1861 Civil war rifles a friends dad collected. Then I bought a TC Hawken 50 cal. which I still have and shoot. I then bought a GRRW Lemen 58 that I still have and enjoy. I'll be 70 in a few months. There have been gaps during this time, but I still shoot them and hunt with both. From the beginning till now I'd say 54 years.

I think I built my first muzzle loading pistol when I was about 16 years old, call it 1977 or so. I can't remember if the first one was a Christmas present, or if I saved up for it. I had to buy my own cartridge guns, as my parents wanted me to know the value of working for things I wanted, but I know they gave me one percussion pistol kit as a surprise, but I did buy others myself. So less than 50 years ago, but more than 45 years ago I started.

It has been off and on lately, but I did a lot of ML shooting in the 80s and 90s, and continued building kits (rifle and pistol) during that time. Then I got into whitewater canoeing and kayaking and long distance canoeing, and almost entirely quit shooting. But I have been building some percussion kits again since 2015, and am looking into these finely crafted flintlock India muskets for future purchases.
