Priming horns, patch knives, ball starters, loading blocks, speed loaders, etc..etc... :haha:

Not sure what I'll be shooting, but it will be out of a Lyman Deerstalker .50 flintlock with 24" barrel and 1:48 twist.

Some may be confusing unnecessary "gadgets" with the normal "process"?azmntman said:Mooman76 said:I think it's the extra bother that makes it worth wile. If I didn't want that, I'd just shoot a cartridge gun like a 22, which I still do from time to time.
I believe that "extra" bother is what makes us better shooters. You shoot better having taking so long to develop a load and shoot ONE AT A TIME, least thats what I feel makes me a better shooter than "most" of my buddies.
There is no extra bother but there are a lot of unnecessary gadget, doo-dads and gizmos that have nothing to do with the process. All you need is a horn of powder, balls, patching and a knife. Everything else is extra and only serves to complicate and slow the entire process. Free yourself from the crutches and useless junk and discover what it is like to shoot as your forefathers did...I think it's the extra bother that makes it worth wile.

Not in the slightest - each can shoot in exactly the same manner without the need for extraneous and unnecessary gadgets, doo-dads and gizmos. You still only need powder, ball and patching to shoot a flinter regardless of when you are - all they rest is personal choice or the mistaken idea that "such-and-such" is necessary...M.D. said:The difference is if your a target shooter, hunter or re-inactor. The requirements are quite strikingly different then as now.
