Ok, here is what may seem to be a dumb question, but I've seen references to the weight of a barrel; for example a "B" weight barrel. How does one interpret the different letter designations for the barrel weight?

the designation doesn't refer to weight, but rather profile. in any one profile the weight varies by the caliber--larger calibers will be lighter.
