Hey Im from east texas near louisiana border and have just gotten back to my blackpowder roots. been sitting in the back reading and learning and thought it was time i unhid and said hello. :grin:

Uh oh, my bad. When I hear East Texas I usually think Kilgore and Longview. We're over in rural Lincoln Parish (north central La.).

I did some work in your area...the night before Rita came ashore. We ran all along the coast and deployed surge sensors to record the storm surge data. Recorded some great data- that was the first time anything like that had ever been done- but it was VERY upsetting and depressing work when we had to go back and retrieve the sensors. I've never been the kind of person who would stop and look at car wrecks, and seeing the storm damage from Rita first hand just broke my heart. That was just unbelievable. I hope you did alright through Rita and Ike. The areas just east of Sabine Pass were literally wiped off the map by Rita.
I enjoyed seeing all those angle-iron derricks over working oil wells around Orangefield! Not many of those left up here anymore.

Ok, I've strayed far from talking about traditional BP weapons. Sorry about that!

enjoyed your response, and unfourtunately didnt fair to well in rita or ike, lost most of trees on former property from rita, and house was to damaged to remain after ike... spent a long time in hotels,and last year bought a new reinforced home and property...anyway just getting back into blackpowder, got a cabelas hawken in 50 cal in october... and santa :grin: UPS pulled up christmas eve with a new lyman GPR 50 cal in flintlock... first one i ever held, not real sure how to handle it yet but i figure folks on here will be helpful with the hints... merry christmas to you and yours, and keep in touch..maybe we can get together and shoot sometime...seems we are not to far apart.
