Hawkenshunt
32 Cal
Hello all,
A coworker who knows he can unload anything on me gave me an CVA Hawkens Hunter in .54 caliber, missing the hammer and an unfired conical round still in the barrel. Rounded up a hammer and also jig to remove the round.
got the round out but the borescope showed "stuff" still in the barrel. I could tell part was the cloth patch and some thing else.
Compressed air had no effect as it leaked past..finally used a 22lr brush to wind around the cloth so when I could finally grip it, I pulled out the patch and the plastic sabot(?). Borescope still could not see bottom, so back to compressed air, which popped out the charge. I have taken it all down, straightened the bent sear, adjusted the triggers and generally cleaned and oiled everything. The bore and rifling look good and trigger and lock are good. So now I am collecting balls, cap maker, powder etc to eventually shoot her. And so it begins...
